February 2010

Editor’s Table Because there are February 1, 2010 deadlines for various GSA awards, including our Rabbitt Award, this edition will appear slightly early. JUST TO REMIND YOU ONE MORE TIME.

This year marks the 350th anniversary of the birth of Sir Hans Sloane. It is the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s discovery of four moons of Jupiter. Earth passed through the tail of Comet Halley in 1910, and in 1960 the first weather satellite was launched on April Fool’s Day. I do not know if that date means something, but the world was never the same again.

This is your Newsletter. We welcome all your comments, suggestions and submissions.
